Our guided Shell Key kayak tours offer a stunning ecotour experience, including a beach walk, starting from the public launch area just north of the Fort De Soto Park bridge. The preserve is teeming with wildlife and provides a tranquil paddling environment.

Your team will welcome everyone here, introduce themselves, distribute waterproof bags, and prepare guests for kayaking (life jackets are provided but are not mandatory for those over 16). No prior experience is necessary, as we’ll provide a brief overview of paddling techniques! We mainly use tandem kayaks for your comfort. (The booking time corresponds to your planned arrival.)

Once prepared, we’ll launch into the Preserve! This area’s shallow waters are rich in wildlife and boast an intriguing ecosystem. We’ll explore its diverse environments, from seagrass flats and mangrove islands to the pristine beaches of Shell Key, including paddling through some mangrove tunnels (best from March to October when tides are favorable).

We’ll look for amazing wildlife such as dolphins, manatees, and various fish and birds while discussing the ecosystem and the Preserve’s history. From our kayaks, you’ll catch glimpses of several St. Pete landmarks, along with insights into their history and recommendations for dining and activities during your visit. Prepare to get wet! While it may not be excessive, wear comfortable clothing knowing that you might get splashed. BE SURE TO BRING SUNSCREEN AND DRINKING WATER! It’s essential out there—at least one bottle per person. Feel free to swim if time permits. This activity involves some physical effort, but it’s not overly strenuous.

Cancellation Policy: Full refund if cancelled by Liberty Outdoors due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, full refund if cancelled by guest outside 24 hours from start time, 50% refund if cancelled within 18 hours, no refund if cancelled with less than 18 hrs notice to start time.
